Today was held another “Youth Parliament” ‘s action. Youth Parliment is part of the Municipal Youth Centre – Ruse. With that occasion was marked the day of the Earth. Young people were active. They tried to spread the idea and urged people to participate in Earth Hour – a global initiative that attracted people’s attention to various environmental problems and enables them to take an active position to solve them.
The event’s duration was one hour – from 20:30 to 21:30, people could express their willingness to tackle climate change and turn off the lights in their homes.
In 2014, Earth Hour is already the most popular global initiative with participants from 162 countries and over 7000 cities, governments and businesses, united in common messages and actions for environmental protection.
In Bulgaria, the campaign is conducted since 2009, and every year its supporters are becoming more. In 2014 the initiative was attended by 106 cities, institutions, businesses and media. The central square of Rousse, youths handed out free candles as a sign of solidarity and support and invited their citizens to join this initiative.
